Narrow band or emission lasers, also called single-frequency lasers or Single Longitudinal Mode lasers (SLM), are indicated for applications where spectral line narrowness or coherence length are fundamental parameters. SLM lasers (single frequency lasers) have much smaller bandwidths (typically 50 - 300 MHz, that is, 0.1 - 0.5 pm) and may have coherence lengths of up to 100 m.
The best known applications of narrow emission lasers (single frequency lasers or single longitudinal mode lasers) are: bioscience (biomedicine, fluorescence, excitation, absorption), confocal microscopy, holography, replacement of He-Ne lasers, LIDAR, metrology, Raman spectroscopy, Speckle interferometry, Photodynamic therapy, interference lithography, etc.
Iberoptics can offer different single frequency laser families (SLM lasers) depending on your needs. These families are summarized on the following table:
Family | Lambda Beam Wavelock | Measurement&Spectroscopy (OXXIUS) |
λ (nm) | 405, 633, 640, 660, 685, 690, 785, 808, 830 | 532.3, 553, 561.4, 632.5, 785, 830, 1064.3 |
Mode | TEM00*, SLM | TEM00, SLM |
Spectral linewidth | <0.1 pm - 0.15 nm | < 1MHz (532, 553, 561,1064 nm), <100 MHz (633, 785, 830 nm) |
Coherence length | 4.5 mm - 2 m | |
Power (mW) | 10 - 500 | up to 500 mW |
Notes | High λ stability (<0.015 nm), excellent beam quality, low noise | Exceptional wavelength stability (<1 pm) |
* 830 nm laser emission is transversal multimode
