ForeStereo Technical Specifications
The ForeStereo Iberoptics® is a forest measurement system based on the Utility Model MU-2005-01738 equipped a stereovision system of 2592 pixel x 1944 pixel resolution cameras CMOS sensor,
fisheye lens, capable of acquire 2 stereoscopic hemispherical images of 5 Mp, system integrate a 9000mA/h to power supply the cameras. The device is operated mounted on a levelling tripod through a USB connection from a notepad.
The image analysis software ForeStereo developed by the INIA-CIFOR allows the 3D restoration of stems from the stereoscopic hemispherical images. The software estimates DBH, Leaf Area Index, Basal Area, Volume and Tree Number by DBH classes and species.
For DBH the R2 Pearson coefficient is > 0.8.
The basal area estimation Root Mean Square Error smaller than 5% has been obtained for a sample size of 20 plots in even-aged pine stands. Additional data on distance,
